Kristen Keegan is a Canadian artist living in Norway, working at the intersection of painting, textile and installation. Interested in the material and perceptual dimensions of colour, she explores the space between image and object, and between memory and present experience.
Drawn to the sensitivity of plant-based pigments, she works with traditional dye processes that incorporate immersion, brush application, and print-resist techniques. Repetition and duration are central to her practise, revealing subtle interactions of colour and surface.
Approaching colour research as a site of discovery and material-led collaboration, she creates works that vary widely in format, function, and scale.
Kristen received her MFA from the University of Bergen’s Faculty of Art, Music and Design in 2019. Since then, she has exhibited throughout Scandinavia at venues including Entrée, Kunsthuset Kabuso, LNM, SOFT galleri, and Hordaland Kunstsenter. She has also participated in artist residencies across Finland, Iceland, Norway, Canada, and the United States.
In 2025 and 2026, she returned to Canada for group exhibitions at AGGP in Grande Prairie and Galerie Eli Kerr in Montreal.
Her work is held in public collections including the University of Bergen, Stavanger Library, and KODE.
